Fix the Reremoana school courts! By Ronan

Fix the Reremoana school courts!
The school courts are bad. People are getting injuries more than ever. And it’s not big enough. We need to fix this. So today, I am going to talk to you about why we need to fix or update our school courts.

Firstly, the surface of the courts. The surface of the courts are not suitable for all weather conditions. In winter, at least 2 out of 5 days will have rain during the school days. And the surface of the courts are concrete. This means that people have a small, but still a chance of slipping up and injuring themselves .If we change the surface to the tiger turf, than there will be a much less chance of people slipping and injuring themselves. Also, as the courts are concrete, people could burn their feet if it is really hot.

Secondly, the size of the courts. The size is way too small if we want to do basketball, netball, tennis and even hockey. The size needs to almost double, so that there would be individual areas on the court for basketball, netball, tennis and maybe even hockey. That way if there were individual areas on the court for separate games, there would be less collisions meaning less injuries. Also, if the courts were bigger, trainings wouldn’t be taking up all the space, so people can enjoy the courts whilst trainings are going on and we can do aims games trainings on our own courts instead of using other schools facilities.

Last of all, we need to change the positioning of the courts. How the courts are set out right now, can lead to potential disaster. The netball hoops and the basketball hoops go across, meeting with each other. If the 2 separate sports are played at the same time, it could result in bad injuries. How we could change the positioning, easy. We can just make 2 separate areas with hoops on each end. Then there will be no injuries resulting in the cross over and it will also look much nicer.

So, do you agree with me? Do you think that the Reremoana school courts can be dangerous and it needs fixing? This will be an expensive investment, but it’ll be worth it. Anyway, those are my reasons why we need to fix the school courts and what it could look like. It can lead to injuries, the size is too small for particular reasons and the edits we need to make. So, what now for the courts?
